Downtown San Mateo - A Gray Morning Walk
An overcast Wednesday morning in downtown San Mateo with the 35mm: a city just waking up, a walk documenting what I saw, and 20 minutes on a planter by a crosswalk.

I went to downtown San Mateo to come back with a few good photos. A Wednesday morning in late October, with the 35mm on the D7500.
It stayed overcast and dim the whole morning, and the city was just waking up. Not many people out, so not many subjects, at least none I could find.

So I walked Third and Fourth and the blocks in between, photographing whatever I thought was kind of cool. Mostly a record of what downtown looked like that morning.
My two favorite frames came from sitting still: 15 or 20 minutes on a planter by a crosswalk on San Mateo Drive, maybe longer, shooting whoever crossed. The man with the cart on the cover came from that planter, and so did the Ghost below.
